MDCH Hamer Hall Series – Sophie Rowell & Kristian Chong – 3 x 3: Mozart, Myths and Mantras

Co-concertmaster of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Sophie Rowell and renowned pianist Kristian Chong unite for an uplifting, poignant and dramatic program featuring three great composers. Mozart’s K454 Sonata is a true chamber conversation between the instruments as well as being a united statement of grandeur, elegance and iridescence. Melbourne composer Calvin Bowman’s songs (arranged for violin and piano) are true statements of radiance, featuring rich harmonies, flowing melodies and pure beauty. And Szymanowski’s ‘Mythes’ are incredibly original, contrasting and vibrant, with original textures, incredible harmonic ingenuity and turmoil alongside an almost wholesome representation of human emotion. An exciting, breathtaking and electrifying program from these two distinguished Australian musicians.
